Dear Fellow San Marinan,

This week marks the beginning of a new chapter in San Marino's history. The city election on Tuesday was a testament that you care about the future and direction of San Marino and want your elected officials to be fiscally responsible, transparent and in tune with the needs and demands of all residents. The thousands of you who voted sent a strong message to the incoming City Council. The message was based on optimism that the new council will work hard to preserve the quality of life that distinguishes San Marino from other communities.

I am honored and humbled to have received the support of many San Marino residents. Through the course of the campaign, I had the opportunity to meet many of you face to face and engaged you in straight forward dialogue to determine the needs of San Marinans. I came to the conclusion that there are many shades and characteristics that define San Marino, however the one distinguishing factor is the unique tranquility of our City that deserves distinction. Many of us decided to live in San Marino for its beautiful streets, excellent schools, safe neighborhoods, and unique architecture of residential homes. The lifestyle which we all have enjoyed for so many years, needs to be preserved for future generations. To do this, we as a City have to overcome some immediate challenges facing communities throughout America. The budget woes of the State and Federal government have a direct impact on our City. I believe that with the hard work of the City officials and staff, and with input from residents and civic organization, we can meet these challenges and overcome them.

I will cherish the trust that many of you have placed in me with your vote and I will do my best to serve the interest of all San Marino residents while serving on the City Council. In closing, I want to take this opportunity to thank my honorary chairs, co-managers, committee members, supporters and volunteers for their tireless efforts in ensuring that my vision for San Marino was shared with as many residents as possible. The election may be over, but the hard work begins now.

As I said before, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to call me at (626) 440-1858 or email me at DrSun@RichardSunDDS.com with any issues, concerns or suggestions. Your input is appreciated and I welcome your comments. I will listen to your concerns, will research each issue, and will serve you full-time.

Sincerely,

Richard Sun
